Heart Swell

Have you ever had one of those moments that fills your heart so full with emotion that you almost feel it might burst? And sometimes, it actually does burst, and the tears spill over. It seems to be happening to me a lot lately as I watch this little one interact with her world.

I try really hard to save my computer time for after Liza is in bed. If you know me well, you know I have this thing for blogs..the photographs, the life stories, music chosen with intention, the documenting of ordinary JOYs, and the sense-making of our worlds. Yesterday, we'd just finished skyping with Gramommy, so the computer was in the playroom. We had a few minutes before dinner. Liza was off playing by herself across the room. I just intended to peak at a favorite, but got lost in somebody else's story. When I looked up, there she was, standing next to me, looking intently at the pictures on the screen and swaying to the music.

Meet Rowdy

He's Liza's garbage truck.
This girl of ours has a thing for cars & trucks.
Parking lots are exciting places.
As luck would have it, her bedroom window provides her with a front row seat to our busy neighborhood street.
And, the first word out of her mouth when I open the door after nap time..."car".

The opposite...

of frowny face is smiley eyes!

Frowny Face

Not exactly JOY, but too cute not to post.

Edited to add:
Dear GUD,
I can't remember why she presented me with this frown. Her daddy really wants to know the story too. The frown is a new trick in the last few days. She's trying it out quite often, even when there's nothing to frown about. Liza wants so badly to be able to make me understand everything going on in that brain of hers. The words are coming, but hand gestures, excited screeches, and facial expressions work too.
Love, Claire

Eggs!

Lee ran out for coffee early this morning. He came back with a treat for his girls. What is it about these colored plastic eggs that makes me so happy? Apparently, Liza feels it too.
Happy Easter!

Easter Mail

Liza finally got to open the Easter card that arrived in the mail earlier this week.
Can you tell she's excited about it?
She needed Daddy's help to read it, and...
to make it squeak!
Thanks, Grandpa & Nana!

Where's Liza?

contemplating those first steps
smiling for Mama
checking out Penny's ear
sporting some post-nap bedhead
giving Daddy kisses
